Friday 24th June 2005, Quex Road
Our underage presentation for the 2004 season was held in the Mazenod Centre, Quex Road. Minor Board chairman Tony O'Halloran and Larry O'Leary, chairman of the London Senior Board, were on hand to present the medals, as was our sponsor of many years, Padraig McHugh.
Last year saw the club win titles at U16 and U18, with 2004 being very much a year for developing the younger grades within the club. Nevertheless, we have a promising team in our U12 outfit and look forward to celebrating success on the field in the near future. For their tireless efforts last year, both in training and on the pitch, our 2004 U12 team received participation medals. The U14 and U16 players all received medals for winning the U16 championship and provincial championship, with the U18s each receiving three medals for their success in the league, championship and provincial championship.
Awards were presented for the 'most improved player of the year' at U12, U14 and U16, for 'player of the year' at U12,U14, U16 and U18, and also the 'club person of the year'. The awards went to:
U12 Most Improved Player of the Year - Ryan McManus
U12 Player of the Year - Dale Gillies
U14 Most Improved Player of the Year - Chris Henry
U14 Player of the Year - Ryan Scullion
U16 Most Improved Player of the Year - Patrick Troy
U16 Player of the Year - Michael O'Donoghue
U18 Player of the Year - Alan Troy
Club Person of the Year - Frances O'Neill
Special Presentations were made to John O'Neill for his continuing efforts in all areas of the club and to Mick and Cathy O'Dwyer in recognition of the years of service they have given to the Kilburn Gaels. Club vice-chairman Paul Doyle and Minor Board chairman Tony O'Halloran spoke of the huge commitment to the club and county board by Mick over the years and commented on how the Kilburn Gaels had contributed to the preservation and promotion of hurling in London.
Thank you to Angie and the staff at the Mazenod Centre for their wonderful hospitality and to the Kinsella School of Irish Dancing for their fantastic display.
