Kilburn hurlers make history for London U21s
20th November 2006: British hurling history was made in Ruislip yesterday when the first ever U21 Inter-county hurling match was contested between London and Warwickshire. The panel of nineteen players, all of whom are either current members or recent graduates of the Kilburn Gaels underage system, played out a keenly contested final against a younger, but fiercely competitive Warwickshire side, drawn solely from the Erin go Bragh hurling club. The day was a great achievement for the mentors and officers who have worked so hard over the past year to ensure that provision is being made for U21 hurlers in Britain and will hopefully continue to be a feature of the British hurling calendar for years to come. The full London panel was: Alan Troy, Tadhg Lee, Patrick Doyle, Liam Mullan (c), Francis O'Dwyer, Patrick Troy, Jimmy Delaney, John Guerin, Thomas O'Neill, Patrick Kerrigan, Liam Jordan, Michael O'Donoghue, James Minihan, Ryan Scullion, Chris Henry, JP O'Brien, Conor Lyons (Kilburn Gaels); Kevin Grace, Sean Howlin (Fr Murphys).

Seniors fail to produce in final
12th November 2006: Those who witnessed the senior league final today in Ruislip were left at a loss to describe what they saw before them. Following the demolition of the Kilburn team in last month's championship final and with news that the Emmetts would be short a number of their first-choice players, many were hoping that today would see an improved performance from the Kilburn players and a far closer contest between the two sides. Sadly this never materialised. To be fair to the Kilburn team they too were short five of their own starting line-up from the team that contested the final, leaving it to a number of Juniors and current underage players to take to the field against the county champions. Keith Kennedy, Brian Forde and the excellent Gareth Glynn at midfield put in strong performances to keep some hope of making an impression on the game, but the strength and pace of the Emmetts side in virtually every area of the field took its toll as Kilburn slumped to their worst defeat for a long time losing as they did by 1-20 to 1-2.

Senior League Update
5th November 2006: Following a walkover from Fr Murphys in the league semi-final today the Seniors are through to their second final this year. The league final against Robert Emmetts will be played next Sunday 12th November in Ruislip, throw-in 1:00pm. All support would be most welcome.
