Committee News 2006

Committee News

16th November 2006

  • Seniors won their semi-final against St Gabriel's by a point but then totally underperformed in both the championship and league finals against Robert Emmetts. Little interest or effort on show from many
  • Juniors lost out to Cuchullains in the McCullough Cup semi-final which was slightly disappointing - would have been nice to make a final. All agreed that the Juiors had a great year though - they were not embarrassed in any game and many of our younger players have come on a great deal since the start of the year
  • Both the U16 and U18 teams retained their county and provincial championships and are now awaiting their league finals
  • It was decided to have a Christmas Party for the whole club rather than just a night out for the Seniors. This has been set for Friday 8th December in Quex Road at 8:30pm
  • AGM set for Sunday 18th February 2007, arrangements to be made for a venue, all club members to be contacted
  • Next meeting: Wednesday 31st January 2007 in The Corrib Rest

14th September 2006

  • The Golf Day was a great success generating the much-needed funds required to run the club each year. Thaks was extended to Sean Riordan and the golf committee for their hard work in organising the day
  • The Seniors have progressed to the semi finals for the fourth successive year following their win over Fr Murphys
  • The Junior team went out of the championship at the hands of Granuaille but despite this, enjoyed a successful campaign. The establishment of a second adult team has proven a beneficial addition to the club and has provided the younger players in particular with an opportunity to get some adult-level games
  • The underage season is nearly complete with just the U16 and U18 fixtures to finish off. The U12s lost out to a stronger and older Granuaille side in the championship final but with nine of the starting team still eligible again next year should be in with a better chance of some silverware. In the U14 semi-final the team failed to put much opposition up to the Sean Treacys side and went out of the competition
  • The underage ranks of the club are planning an U12 7s competition in Greenford for Saturday 16th September to mark their 15th Anniversary
  • Next meeting: Thursday 16th November in The Corrib Rest

13th July 2006

  • Golf Day - just over a week away now, sponsorship looking very healthy. Andrew Carey has agreed to sponsor the prizes and make the presentations on the day
  • The Seniors had a mixed start to the year with reasonable form in the league but a disappointing early exit from the Collins Cup at the hands of Bros Pearse. The championship is now on hold while London competes in the Christy Ring but we made a good start with victory over the Treacys
  • Our Junior team have made excellent progress in the championship - with two wins and two draws - a testament to our strong underage structure with the majority of this panel aged under 21
  • On the underage scene our U12s lost the league final to a strong Granuaille outfit, the U14s are playing their championship semi-final this weekend in Mitcham and our U16s were progressing well follwing three straight wins in the league. Four boys from the club represented London at the Feile in Cork while the three Heston girls had played in the camogie competition with Erin go Bragh. There have been no further minor matches at club level but fourteen of our players helped guide London to victory in the provincial championship last weekend
  • Next meeting: Thursday 14th September after training in Highgate

16th May 2006

  • Race Nite in Tony's raised nearly all the funds needed to cover the underage trip to Wexford although the turnout on the night was quite poor
  • The trip to Wexford went very well with 25 players and 8 mentors travelling to Oylegate with the club. Four matches were played over the course of the weekend with the panel winning two and losing two. Everyone had a brilliant time and it proved a great bonding venture for the players
  • The underage teams have had a mixed start to the season - the U12s are going well but the U14 team is struggling to find form. The U16s have received two walkovers but will get underway with two fixtures this weekend. At U18 level we had one win and one walkover when half the team failed to turn up
  • Five of our U16s represented Great Britain in Belfast last weekend - the results were disappointing but our players all did very well, in particular James Minihan who was the oustanding player of the tournament
  • Golf Day - confirmed for Friday 21st July at Ealing Golf Club
  • Next meeting: Thursday 13th July after training in Highgate

28th March 2006

  • Poor turn out at the AGM due to a number of reasons but we got through everything on the day and things are set up well for the year
  • All the money from the Dinner Dance was nearly in. The treasurer had settled up with The Corrib Rest
  • Race Nite - Friday 31st March at 8pm in Tony's Bar, Willesden. Approximately 30 cards had been sold and there are sponsors for every race. Hoping to see a good crowd out on the night
  • Arrangements were in place for the U16/U18 trip to Wexford at Easter. Accommodation had been arranged for all players and there are 8 mentors accompanying the team
  • Junior challenge against St Mary's was a good run out, especially for the younger members of the team. Hope to continue this link and play another match in the near future
  • Next meeting: Date to be confirmed

11th January 2006

  • Tickets for the Dinner Dance will be available from the weekend 14th/15th January onwards priced at £25 for adults and £10 for U16/U18 players
  • The AGM set for Sunday 26th February at 2pm in The Corrib Rest (POSTPONED)
  • Next meeting: AGM - date to be confirmed
